Administrivia

I always wanted to use that portmanteau, or “mashup” of “administrative” and “trivia” that used to grace the About pages of old listservs.

I just wanted to write a quick post to let you know that I’ve cleaned up the navigational sidebar a little here. I’ve moved things around so that the more useful, more visually striking, or shorter widgets appear higher in the list and the more verbose and cluttered ones appear below. I’ve also taken out static pages that used to refer to a Goodreads widget, and implemented a new Goodreads widget native to WordPress. It points to my “currently-reading” list on that social site, and currently features a both a textbook I’m using in the Sociology of War and Peace, and Bill Mahony’s Exquisite Love. Lastly, I’ve simplified the display of “Share this” under each post and page, tucking some services up under the “More” button.

Particularly as I have arrived at this juncture as the result of helping a friend with a WordPress site, I wanted to make the site a little cleaner visually. Have a look, and tell me what you think.
