Even though I have a very busy day ahead, with only a handful of weeks left in the semester, with miles to go before I sleep, the proprieties must be observed, most of all the morning walk. It’s school vacation week here, so there is a certain hush. Reflecting on what it was like, I remembered this old song from Greg Brown, which many others have covered.

Oooo-ee, ain’t the mornin’ light pretty,
When the dew is still heavy, so bright and early.
My home on the range; it’s a one-horse town,
And i”s alright with me.

via Greg Brown — Lyrics for 44 & 66.

It is worth listening to the gentle melody, the relaxed accompaniment, and sweet harmonies. But wherever you are, don’t miss an opportunity to see what’s sweetly emerging from the environs.
