July

Well there’s good luck coming like two new dimes
If I had my way it’d be July all the time
All a them bugs they just sing and shout
They make a racket so loud they like to drown me out

Chorus:
Mmm mm July! Just like a long-lost friend
Mmm mm last February thought I’d never see your face again
Mmm mm July! Just like a long-lost friend
Mmm mm last February thought I’d never see your face again

via “July” Geoff Bartley Lyrics.

Particularly in the run-up to the solstice, a lot of my yoga teachers have been talking about the supportive nature of this season. Just yesterday, an Anusara-inspired teacher who is new to me talked about July and its relationship to February. Remembrance of this time gets us through that one. That reminded me immediately of my ritual playing of Geoff Bartley’s song, which captures this spirit perfectly. Enjoy this time and let it percolate into your heart.
