I absolutely adore this poem I heard this morning on the Writer’s Almanac.
Honda Pavarotti by Tony Hoagland via Honda Pavarotti by Tony Hoagland | The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor.
It’s all in there, the universal and the relative, metaphors and similes careening around together in a jaunt over some very visceral territory. Even though I haven’t (yet?) cultivated an appreciation of opera, I feel as if I am in the car with him, the music swelling as the sights rush by, and I get a hit of that bigger energy which undergirds all.
